A course of treatment with vitamin C for cancer. Vitamins for cancer and against cancer

Can be cured with vitamin C! Evan Cameron from Scotland, as well as Allan Campbell, reported in a scientific journal that large doses of this vitamin can cause natural cancer. However, the message contained a number of caveats.

Vitamin C increases the body's overall resistance to all diseases, not only cancer. Cameron, along with the famous Linus Polyang, emphasize that in many cases vitamin C actually increases the body's resistance to possible cancer, but only if there is enough of it. In addition, to a certain extent, the vitamin will help in the restoration of a diseased cell or tissue, and also helps to increase the activity of leukocytes and the effectiveness of their action; helps in the production of hormones, making it easier for the body to tolerate stress.

When experimental rats were given cancer by carcinogenic chemicals, their bodies produced so much vitamin C that, in human terms, that would be 16 grams per day. Animals, with the exception of guinea pigs and monkeys, are capable of synthesizing ascorbic acid in their own bodies, but humans are not! He must administer it daily with food. Cameron and Pauling determined that the body of a cancer patient has a huge deficiency of vitamin C, it is almost on the verge. Doctors treated 50 volunteers with vitamin C, usually so sick that there was no hope of cure. The start was encouraging. 10 patients withdrew from the experiment for various reasons, for example, the family did not give consent. Not all of the remaining ones tolerated the large dose well - 10 g of ascorbic acid per day. It started, acidity increased, etc. Everyone had some unpleasant symptoms. Doctors were generally aware that a dose above 4 g per day could cause formation.

Of the 40 remaining patients, four died at the beginning of treatment, and 17 had no changes in their health for a long time, but then the pain decreased and they felt an improvement, although not too noticeable. 11 patients showed significant improvement. For example, a 67-year-old patient who could no longer undergo surgery because the cancer had struck and returned after treatment with large doses of vitamin C, he gained weight, and his stomach function was regulated; the patient lived another 209 days after starting treatment with ascorbic acid. This course of the disease was typical for the entire group of 11 patients.

In 18 patients the improvement was clear and often striking. Thus, a 69-year-old man underwent surgery for rectal cancer in 1969. In 1972, he returned to the hospital with obvious symptoms of early stage liver cancer. Treatment with ascorbic acid was carried out for 6 months, i.e., until the liver began to function normally again. The patient continued to take ascorbic acid for two and a half years, but in a normal dose, and was, according to doctors Cameron and Campbell, completely healthy.

Vitamin C prevents disease, but does not cure it. Helps the body defeat the disease, especially in the initial stage, but only in cases where the body has its own internal seeds for this. Linus Pauling claims that about 10% of cancer deaths could be avoided if patients constantly received sufficient amounts of vitamin C. He estimated that 15-20 thousand people could be saved every year in the United States of America alone. He outlined this theory in a report at the opening of a new oncology laboratory at the University of Chicago in 1971.

According to statistics, in the United States in 1993, 170 thousand cases of lung cancer were detected. The disease affects more men than women (34 and 22% of deaths, respectively), but due to the sharp increase in recent years in the number of smokers, the incidence of lung cancer in women is also rapidly increasing.

Lung cancer, like all malignant tumors, develops when the normal cells of an organ (in this case the lung) become damaged, lose their normal functions and become out of the body's control. These abnormal cells begin to rapidly divide, penetrate into the surrounding normal tissues and suppress their vital functions. Cancer cells can enter the bloodstream, spread throughout the body through the bloodstream, and form new foci of growth, called metastases, in distant areas of the body.

There are about 20 different types of lung tumors, but a significant part of them belong to one of two types: squamous cell epithelioma and adenocarcinoma, as well as the small cell type. The name of the tumor usually indicates from which cells it forms. For example, squamous cell carcinoma is from the cells lining the bronchi (squamous epithelium), adenocarcinoma is from connective cells, etc.

Although many factors contribute to the malignant degeneration of cells: exposure to asbestos, heavy metals, radiation, air pollution, infection leading to scarring, the most important cause of lung cancer is smoking cigarettes! If you currently smoke, - come on! No amount of vitamins or medications will help you if you destroy your lungs every day with tobacco smoke. But what can nutritional components give to those who have given up smoking? Let's get a look.

What helps with lung cancer?

As it turned out in a study of the development of lung cancer, people who consumed large amounts of vitamin A, which is formed from beta-carotene, were less likely to suffer from lung cancer. Dark green and yellow-orange vegetables, which are high in beta-carotene, appear to protect against lung cancer better than any other source of vitamin A. The Rx: Increase your intake of yellow-orange and dark green vegetables. Try to eat these two groups of vegetables every day - not an apple a day, but in this case a carrot a day! Also take 50,000 IU (30 mg) of beta-carotene per day.

Supplemental intake of vitamin B 12 and folic acid helps reverse early changes in the cells lining the bronchial tree (called bronchial metaplasia) that precede the development of cancer. Recommendations: Take 5 g of folic acid and 500 mcg of vitamin B 12 (under the tongue) daily.

Vitamin C, as a strong antioxidant, protects the body from the damaging effects of poisons contained in tobacco smoke. If you continue to smoke - and I haven't been able to convince you to quit - you need to consume quite a lot of vitamin C to protect yourself. Recommendations: People not exposed to tobacco smoke should take at least 1 g of vitamin C in crystalline (powder) form four times daily. For others, it is better to take twice the dose if their intestines can tolerate it. Read about vitamin C, which talks about how to increase your daily vitamin intake to the level of intestinal tolerance. If you sometimes find yourself in a smoky atmosphere and know in advance that this will happen, take another 2-4 g of vitamin C beforehand.

Because vitamin E is also an antioxidant, it helps reduce tissue damage caused by cigarette smoke and other carcinogens (asbestos, radiation, etc.). Recommendations: Take 400-800 IU of natural vitamin E (in the form of d-alpha tocopherol succinate) daily. Caution: Vitamin E may cause increased blood pressure. Read about how you can safely increase your dose to the recommended level.

Even a slight zinc deficiency can reduce the immune system's ability to protect against tumor cells. Some studies have shown that people with lung cancer have low zinc levels, loss of zinc in the urine, and a weakened immune system. Recommendations: Take zinc complexes (such as zinc aspartate or zinc picolinate) at a dose of 50 mg three times daily. Caution: Consumption of zinc in ionic form (zinc sulfate) may cause deficiencies of other micronutrients, such as copper, due to competitive absorption in the intestine. The use of complex compounds prevents such competition.

Essential fatty acids, when consumed properly, strengthen the immune system, allowing the body to produce more “good” prostaglandins and fewer “bad” ones. Recommendations: add linoleic acid and fish oil in a ratio of 1:4 to the main set of macrocomponents. Take this supplement one to three times a day. You can buy evening primrose oil and fish oil containing linoleic acid at most health food stores. Since this is not such a pure form, the dose will be different. A good replacement is the following combination: 500 mg evening primrose oil (a source of linoleic acid in capsules), 1000 mg fish oil, 200 IU vitamin E one to three times a day. (Warning for diabetics: Fish oil sometimes causes fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Monitor this closely when consuming fish oil and stop taking it if your blood sugar becomes difficult to control.)

According to recent research, complex drug Viusid, containing vitamins, microelements, as well as glycerritic and malic acids, glucosamine, is effective against malignant tumors. Read the details.

The modern world, in addition to achievements and progress in the treatment of many serious diseases, is faced with a rapidly developing pathological change in cells - cancer. The use of heavy drugs, chemotherapy blocks, and the characteristics of the general condition lead to a sharp deterioration in well-being and immunity. Many experts advise taking complexes based on micro- and macroelements to maintain the normal functioning of the body’s internal systems. In order not to cause greater harm to health, you should choose the right B vitamins for oncology from the list recommended by a specialist.

Vitamins for oncology: indications and contraindications

Beneficial substances of synthetic or natural origin are necessarily included to ensure the completeness of complex therapy of the disease.

Normal intake of micro- and macroelements is facilitated by:

  • Restoration of life processes and functions of internal organs;
  • Maintaining a good level of resistance, especially after the use of cytostatics and chemical blocks;
  • Ensure the stability of enzymatic and hormonal metabolism;
  • Cleanses the body, preventing intoxication changes.

The selection of complexes or multivitamin preparations must be agreed with the oncologist, since some compounds provoke the growth, active development of tumors and the spread of metastases. Properly selected medications normalize metabolism and detoxification processes.

Patients at dispensaries require special attention to the use of vitamins, especially for cancer patients with tumors localized in the gastrointestinal tract: stomach, intestines.

It must be taken into account that any microelements and B vitamins may have contraindications for oncology.

  • Retinol - provitamin A - is a strong antioxidant that promotes the physiological regeneration of affected cells. Recent studies have confirmed the effectiveness of including vit. A in therapy and use for cancer prevention. Beta carotene, lycopene, administered by injection, and a diet rich in the compound help alleviate the course of certain types of cancer in the prostate and mammary gland;
  • Group B - a variety of components contributes to a cumulative effect that normalizes vital processes: metabolism, transmission of neural impulses, restores protein, carbohydrate and fat balance. But if cancer occurs, it should be used with great caution; the beneficial effect affects the activation of cell growth;
  • Ascorbic acid - vitamin C - is considered an excellent preventative for supporting and strengthening the immune system, as well as protecting healthy bodies from mutations and damage. It is recommended as a means of reducing side effects and complications in the treatment of oncology with cytostatics, radiation, and hormones. Restores membrane structures, destroys free radicals;
  • Calciferol - vitamin D3 - a full supply of the compound strengthens the immune system, normalizes the synthesis of T cells, improves the condition of blood vessels and permeability. Normalizes calcium balance;
  • Tocopherol - vit. E - used exclusively in combination with other microelements. Prescribed to prevent relapse and to facilitate the rehabilitation process. Restores regeneration capabilities at the cellular level thanks to strong antioxidant properties;
  • Laetral - B 17 amygdalin - promotes the destruction of neoplasms with the help of an enzyme synthesized by the affected bodies during the breakdown of cyanide. Completely safe for healthy structures.

All medications based on microelements are prescribed with great care and the dosage is strictly observed.

Compounds in large quantities are contraindicated in the treatment of cancer:

  • Thiamine;
  • Methylcobalamin (B12);
  • Tocopherol capsules;
  • Honey is excluded, as well as some liquid vitamin components that enhance cell regeneration and metabolism;
  • Iron-containing preparations.

In most cases, the norm of vitamins remains at the level of physiological requirements, which is necessary for the normal functioning of internal systems.

Vitamin C and foods that contain it

The benefits of ascorbic acid are incomparably enormous. In addition to the prevention of colds, very often, adequate consumption and absorption of microelements prevents the development of cancer.

For oncology vit. C promotes:

  • Raising immune functions;
  • Acceleration of protein metabolism;
  • Increasing the activity of regeneration processes;
  • Protects healthy cells from damage when using chemistry and radiation therapy.

Ascorbic acid is found in many foods. Particularly high content in:

  • Rose hips;
  • Black currant berries;
  • Citrus;
  • Onions and garlic;
  • Celery;
  • Fresh vegetables of bright colors.

Chicken meat and beef liver also contain a large amount of vitamin C.

B vitamins

Compounds belonging to the class of water-soluble beneficial microelements, which play an important role in ensuring the normal process of cellular metabolism, have unique properties in supporting health.

For patients at oncology clinics, special attention is required when prescribing vitamin components.

Beneficial for cancer:

  • Riboflavin - B2 - participates in the formation of red blood cells, steroid hormones, helps distribute oxygen throughout tissues;
  • Pyridoxine - B6 - slows down the division of affected cells;
  • Folic acid - B9 - improves hematopoiesis, maintains the natural genetic form;
  • Amygdalin - B17 - inhibits tumors, preventing metastases.

Getting enough B vitamins helps:

  • Normalization of metabolic processes;
  • Restores regenerative capabilities;
  • Strengthens immunity;
  • Improves hematopoiesis;
  • Increases the synthesis and absorption of amines;
  • Prevents dysfunction of the central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract.

Sources of useful microelements are:

  • A balanced diet enriched with foods high in group B;
  • Synthetic complexes;
  • Dietary supplements that can only be taken on the recommendation of a doctor.

Contraindications for B vitamins for oncology include strict adherence to dosages. Excess of which can provoke tumor growth.

Ecology of health: Official medicine actively defends its monopoly on treatment. This is usually done by suppressing effective alternative...

Official medicine actively defends its monopoly on treatment. This is usually done by suppressing effective alternative methods or natural remedies, as well as by discrediting scientists and doctors who offer effective alternatives.

If one of the alternative treatment methods was able to create a certain resonance among the masses, then official medicine conducts a fictitious study, the result of which, as a rule, is proof of the ineffectiveness and sometimes toxicity of these methods.

This is exactly what happened with the use of hyperdoses of vitamin C to treat cancer.

In this case, however, the medical establishment had a hard time since the “violator” turned out to be twice Nobel Prize winner, American scientist Linus Pauling. It is very difficult to discredit such a scientist, so his work on vitamin C and cancer was first blocked. The US National Academy of Sciences refused to publish his work, despite the fact that in its more than 50-year history, by that time, the academy had never refused to publish the work of its members.

Then he stopped receiving funding to continue his research on vitamin C. This famous American scientist suddenly found himself unable to continue his work in America. Then he joined forces with Scottish scientist and oncologist Cameron, who also researched this vitamin as an anti-cancer agent.

The study began in 1971 on 100 patients with terminal cancer. Terminal patients were those for whom official treatment could no longer offer anything and treatment was either stopped or switched to palliative (alleviating suffering). In parallel, a statistical study was carried out, where for each patient studied, 10 analogues (by diagnosis, gender and age) were selected from those who received formal treatment and did not receive vitamin C.

The results were stunning. Patients receiving an average of 10 grams of vitamin C per day lived on average 4 times longer than those who, while in the terminal stage, did not receive vitamin C. The quality of life improved in almost all 100 patients. Their appetite improved, they began to leave the hospital for walks and go home.

Patients taking morphine sharply reduced its dose and could refuse it after only 5 days of vitamin therapy. 16% of patients had a significant increase in life expectancy. With an average of 50 days in the terminal group not exposed to vitamin C therapy, these patients lived for at least a year, and some of them were alive after 5 years (the official cure period according to the criterion of official medicine).

Dr. Cameron continued to treat cancer patients with vitamin C and collected over 4,000 cases. He noted that this therapy is more effective when diagnosed early and before chemotherapy is used. Paulin and Cameron in 1976 stated in their letter to the National Academy of Sciences that when vitamin C was used in the early stages of the disease, the life expectancy of patients increased from 5 years to 20 (!) Pauling also believed that with the correct use of vitamin C, cancer mortality could be reduced by 75% (Passwater 1978).

Predictably, American medical and scientific organizations did not accept the results of Pauling and Cameron's research and, after a futile attempt to block and discredit them, resorted to a proven method and agreed to conduct their own study, which was conducted in 1979 at the Mayo Clinic.

Despite the promise to repeat Dr. Cameron's exact protocol and to work together with Pauling, the research was carried out with gross violations, and Pauling himself learned about the results only from the press. According to the results of these studies, hyperdoses of vitamin C were not effective in treating cancer. There was no revolution in oncology and the previous concept of official treatment of “etch, cut and burn” (chemistry, surgery and radiation therapy) remained unchanged.

Nevertheless, many alternative clinics have begun to successfully use this method in their arsenal. It has been noticed that it gives good results together with laetrile (Vit B17). Hyperdoses of vitamin C are rarely the main protocol today, but are a very important part of comprehensive cancer treatment.

Dr. Newbold from New York successfully treated some types of cancer with vitamin C. For example, for skin cancer, he took 15 grams of the vitamin orally and applied an ointment containing vitamin C directly to the lesions 5-6 times a day. For other types of cancer, he increased the oral intake to 50-60 grams (usually diarrhea limits the dosage, appearing from 30 to 60 grams).

He also experimented with large intravenous dosages of up to 50 grams and higher. Dr. Newbold described one case of a woman with terminal squamous cell lung cancer, for which he increased the dosage to 105 grams per day. This patient was able to return to work after a year.

There are many variations in the use of vitamin C and its dosage in the treatment of cancer. The most commonly used method is 10-20 grams intravenously 4-5 times per week. It is also recommended to take the vitamin 10-20 grams daily orally.

Dr. Greg believes that together with hyperdoses of vitamin C, you need to take vitamin E, which, together with vitamin C, is involved in the delivery of oxygen through the cell membrane, and then into its cytoplasm to cellular energy stations - mitochondria. The process of increasing the oxygen content in a cancer cell promotes the inclusion of aerobic metabolism in it, turning off the “cancer” program and returning to normal activity or apoptosis (biological death).

It is important to note that hemoglobin, the substance that carries oxygen in the blood, is not capable of delivering oxygen to a cancer cell, while the vitamin C molecule can do this. In general, it is believed that vitamin C is one of the few substances that pass through the wall of a cancer cell, which is not able to distinguish a glucose molecule from vitamin C.

In general, the mechanism of action of vitamin C on tumors is multifaceted. One of these mechanisms is the strengthening of collagen located in the intercellular space. Healthy collagen can stop tumor growth. Cancer cells secrete an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which breaks down collagen fibers, thereby allowing the tumor to grow and invade surrounding tissue.

It is noticed that the process of tumor formation and growth occurs in those tissues where there is a low content of vitamin C. Dr. Matthias Rath, to neutralize the effect of hyaluronidase, recommends using it in treatment combination of 4 substances:

  • vitamin C,
  • catechins EGCG (green tea),
  • amino acids L-lysine,
  • L-proline.

Vitamin C's anti-cancer effects also include helping the immune system generate and mobilize white blood cells to fight cancer. As we know today, the immune system is our most powerful weapon against this disease and, unlike the destructive effect that chemotherapy has on it, vitamin C stimulates it through the described mechanism.

Vitamin C has a selective cytotoxic effect on cancer cells, without affecting healthy ones even with hyperdoses (another difference from chemotherapy, which kills rapidly dividing healthy cells: immune cells, germ cells, hair follicles, hematopoietic cells, gastrointestinal epithelium). In 1995, in the scientific journal Medical Hypotheses, the cytotoxic effect of vitamin C was described in detail and it was also found that a cytotoxic dose of vitamin C can be easily achieved in humans without the risk of serious complications.

Vitamin C is also a powerful intracellular antioxidant that protects DNA from mutations that occur under the influence of oxidative stress. Therefore, most cancer patients have low levels of vitamin C. Its low level can be caused by both long-term and poor nutrition, as well as prolonged stress. Under stress, due to the constant loss of vitamin C, damage and mutations accumulate in mitochondrial DNA, ultimately leading to the degeneration of a normal cell into a cancerous one.

Cancer cells are functionally different from normal cells in many ways. In particular, they lose control over regulating the amount of antioxidants entering the cell. That is why vitamin C can accumulate in them in large quantities and thereby create a high concentration of hydrogen peroxide, which in turn will destroy the cancer cell. This mechanism was described by Dr. Mark Levin in his study published in 2005.

In addition to the cytotoxic effect of high doses of vitamin C, in recent years a lot of research has begun to be carried out on the topic combining vitamin C and standard chemotherapy drugs. It has been observed to increase the effectiveness of several chemotherapy drugs (doxorubicin, cisplatin, paclitaxel, irinotecan, 5-fluorouracil) in the treatment of breast cancer, colon cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer and several others.

At the moment, two clinical studies are being conducted on patients (thus, even oncologists should have recognized the role of vitamin C in the treatment of cancer). Interestingly, these same studies confirmed the cytotoxicity of vitamin C itself, which raises the question of the advisability of continuing to use highly toxic drugs alone or in combination with hyperdoses of vitamin C.

Most interesting and promising were the results of the recent research on combining hyperdoses of vitamin C and some natural substances, which in the future may lead to complete natural treatment protocols even within the framework of official medicine. However, not everyone can wait and therefore Some combinations using vitamin C are given below:

Nnatur. substance + Vit. C or H2O2 Combination effect Type of cancer/cancer cell

  • maitake mushroom and beta glucan ++ prostate cancer/ PC-3
  • maitake mushroom GD-fraction ++ bladder cancer/ T-24
  • meshimakobu mushroom PL-fraction ++ bladder cancer/ T-24
  • green polyphenol tea EGCG ++ lung adenocarcinoma/SPC-A-1
  • retinoic acid ++ BC/MCF-7
  • vitamin D (together with H2O2) + breast cancer/MCF-7
  • vitamin D (with H2O2) + colon cancer/HT-29
  • hyperthermia + leukemia
  • hyperthermia + glioblastoma

When using extracts of maitake and meshimakobu mushrooms and combination with vitamin C 90% mortality of bladder cancer cells has been achieved.

Another example - maitake extract and vitamin C- 95% mortality of prostate cancer cells was achieved, both examples with relatively low concentrations of vitamin C.

Black and green tea extracts along with vitamin C were effective against lung cancer, with black tea extract being more effective, raising tumor cell mortality from 1% to 22%.

Retinoic acid(a metabolite of vitamin A) increased the antiproliferative effect of vitamin C in breast cancer by 3 times (up to 75% inhibition).

Vitamin D (calcitriol) in combination with hydrogen peroxide, which is released by intravenous administration of vitamin C, increases the death of breast cancer cells by 78% compared to hydrogen peroxide alone.

However, some natural combinations can inhibit the effectiveness of vitamin C. For example, it loses its cytotoxic potency on cancer cells by 95% when administered with glutathione. Thus, the tumor reduction observed with vitamin C alone is stopped.

Today this is a very interesting and active direction, and in the future even stronger combinations of vitamin C with other natural preparations will be found. The effective combinations shown above have not yet undergone clinical trials, but nevertheless they all have extremely low toxicity, which makes it possible for them to be used in treatment by both specialists and patients themselves.

There are already two well-known vitamin C combination protocols used by specialists in the treatment of cancer with natural alternatives:

  • The first one is laetrile (vitamin B17) and vitamin C, successfully used in some alternative clinics.
  • The second combination is Niacin (vitamin B3), necessary for the normal functioning of the Krebs cycle and aerobic respiration, and vitamin C.

It should be noted that most studies are conducted by established medical institutions and research institutes using the generally accepted concept of understanding and treating cancer, in which the tumor is the cause of the disease and therefore its elimination is seen as the main goal in cancer treatment.

An alternative concept considers the tumor itself as a symptom of the cancer process in the body and requires an integrated approach to restore it, eliminate the causes of the disease and, as part of the treatment protocol, directly influence the tumor. It follows that if you decide to use vitamin C or its combination with any natural preparation, then this should only be part of a treatment complex that includes detoxification of the body, immune modulation, a strict anti-cancer diet, antimicrobial therapy, oxygenation and alkalization, work with the psyche. published

There are a number of scientifically proven potential health benefits of vitamin B17:

1. May Help Protect Against Cancer

Is vitamin B17 effective against cancer? Overall, the results of studies examining the anticancer effects of vitamin B17 vary. Some show that vitamin B17 is beneficial in preventing cancer and stopping the spread of existing cancer cells, while others have found no effect of vitamin B17 on cancer cells. Although many medical practitioners believe that vitamin B17 laetrile is a very good medicine for cancer. Most agree that this drug should not be the primary cancer treatment for any patient. Instead, they recommend using it as an effective supplement.

Vitamin B17, especially in the form of D-amygdalin, can help with the regression and suppression of the growth of cancer cells and tumors because it has a selective effect on mutated cells called apoptosis. Apoptosis is a mechanism of “programmed cell death” that is considered an important part of cancer treatment. Some scientists claim that vitamin B17 kills cancer:

Vitamin B17 compounds have an important ability - they kill cancer cells, and to a lesser extent affect normal healthy cells.

In a study conducted Department of Physiology, Kyung Hee University in South Korea, when amygdalin extract was combined with human prostate cancer cells, it was found that it helped induce significant apoptosis in prostate cancer cells. The researchers conclude that amygdalin has the potential to become a natural treatment option for prostate cancer.

Other animal studies show that vitamin B17 amygdalin is effective in suppressing bladder and brain cancer cells under certain conditions, especially when combined with other antibody-enzyme complexes.

On the other hand, other studies using human lung and breast cancer cells have not observed an effect of vitamin B17 on tumor growth. Therefore, there is still no consensus in the medical community as to whether vitamin B17 should be used as an anti-cancer agent.

2. Boosts immunity

Vitamin B17 has special properties that slow the spread of disease throughout the body by killing harmful cells, but its mechanism of action is not entirely clear.

Research published in the journal International Journal of Radiation and Biology, showed that amygdalin stimulated the immune system, causing a statistically significant increase in the patient's white blood cells' ability to attack harmful cells. One theory regarding the effects of vitamin B17 suggests that the transformation of normal cells into dangerous cells that can cause disease is usually prevented by beneficial enzymes produced in the pancreas. Thus, vitamin B17 can help increase the production of pancreatic enzymes that break down harmful formations in the body.

Vitamin B17 is also believed to help the body improve detoxification effects by supporting liver function. It boosts immune function by ridding the body of toxins, cancer cells and other potentially harmful substances before they cause illness or serious chronic conditions. Another explanation for the mechanisms of vitamin B17 is that when it releases cyanide, it causes an increase in acid content in malignant tumors and leads to the destruction of harmful cells in tumors, stopping their growth.

3. Reduces pain

In a case series published in 1962, in which patients received a wide range of doses of intravenous vitamin B17, pain relief was the main effect observed. Some of the patients experienced a decrease in adenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) and a decrease in tumor size.

However, patients did not follow long-term exposure to this amygdalin, which makes it impossible to determine whether this effect continued after treatment was stopped, so it is difficult to say whether vitamin B17 can act as a natural pain reliever for various diseases such as arthritis.

4. Reduces High Blood Pressure

Vitamin B17 may cause a decrease in blood pressure due to the formation of thiocyanate, a powerful blood pressure lowering agent. However, it is unknown whether this can be used effectively in long-term therapy.

Once metabolized, vitamin B17 causes the production of an enzyme called beta-glucosidase, which interacts with intestinal bacteria, resulting in detoxification of the body and lowering blood pressure. It is usually not dangerous for most people and may be helpful for some, but it is important not to use vitamin B17 if you are already taking blood pressure-lowering medications.

If you have any heart problems that could be complicated if you have a sudden drop in blood pressure, you should avoid taking vitamin B17.

Is Vitamin B17 Safe?

Although many studies have found that vitamin B17 is safe for human consumption, more information is needed to determine the most effective dose, possible toxic reactions, and long-term side effects of high doses.

The toxicity resulting from cyanide poisoning is significantly higher when vitamin B17 is given orally because intestinal bacteria contain enzymes that activate the release of the cyanide contained in this vitamin and make its effects much more dramatic and rapid. However, when vitamin B17 laetrile is administered, this rarely occurs.

Because the evidence is unclear, experts recommend getting vitamin B17 from food sources rather than from high-dose dietary supplements. Although food sources may provide smaller amounts of this vitamin, they are always a safer option that poses far less risk than extracts and tablets.

What foods contain vitamin B17 - the best sources

Apricot kernels and bitter almonds are most commonly used to create an extracted form of vitamin B17, and almost all seeds and kernels from various types of fruit contain this vitamin, such as apple seeds and pear seeds. Legumes and some whole grains also contain vitamin B17.

Its exact amount in food is not generally known, and levels are thought to vary greatly depending on where the product is grown, the quality of the soil and how fresh it is.

According to the organization Vitamin B17 Organization, most vitaminB17 is found in the following foods:

  • apricots (kernels/pits)
  • seeds from other fruits such as apples, cherries, peaches, prunes, plums, pears
  • moon beans (lima beans)
  • common beans
  • wheat sprouts
  • almond
  • raspberries
  • elder
  • blackberry
  • blueberry
  • buckwheat
  • sorghum
  • millet
  • macadamia nuts
  • bean sprouts
  • bamboo shoots

How new is vitamin B17 treatment?

Vitamin B17 as a medicine is far from new. Bitter almonds, a rich source of vitamin B17, have been used as a traditional medicine for thousands of years by cultures such as the ancient Egyptians, Chinese and Pueblo Indians. Around 1802, compounds in vitamin B17 were discovered when a chemist realized that distilling water from bitter almonds released hydrocyanic acid and this could be purified to form amygdalin, the active ingredient in vitamin B17.

This vitamin, in the form of laetrile, was first used as a cancer treatment in Russia back in the mid-1800s and then spread to the United States in the 1920s. By the 1970s, laetrile gained popularity as an anti-cancer agent, with over 70,000 people in the US alone at the time using vitamin B17 laetrile to treat cancer.

Today, vitamin B17 laetrile is not approved for the prevention or treatment of cancer in the United States. This is because there is not enough evidence to fully understand how laetrile works in humans and that it is truly safe and effective.

While vitamin B17 has shown anti-cancer activity in some animal studies, the FDA believes more information is needed about its effects in humans in clinical trials before it can be widely used to prevent disease and boost immunity.

Although this substance is an illegal substance to sell, it is not illegal to possess or use. Therefore, some medical practitioners still use vitamin B17 in the laetrile form to treat cancer. They often obtain these supplements and extracts from other countries where the production of vitamin B17 supplements for medicinal purposes is still supported.

Currently, the daily dose of vitamin B17 has not been established. However, many doctors who specialize in treating cancer prescribe it in relatively high doses to patients who usually do not experience side effects.

Vitamin B17 is not used by many people who are relatively healthy and do not suffer from a serious condition such as cancer, so it is difficult to establish what the best preventive dose may be without more evidence or research.

Currently, the prescription, treatment plan, and duration of vitamin B17 treatment vary widely depending on the specific condition of the patient and the prescribing physician. Part of the problem with exactly how and how much vitamin B17 may be beneficial is that most of the research using this vitamin took place in the 1970s and 80s but has been discontinued since it was banned in the 1980s years.

Vitamin B17 laetrile (or amygdalin) is often taken as part of a larger therapy protocol that includes a specific diet with high doses of immune-deficiency vitamins. Although there is no standard treatment plan, a daily injection of vitamin B17 into a vein for two to three weeks is a commonly used method, followed by small doses of the substance taken orally. Vitamin B17 extract is also used in enemas and applied directly to the skin.

According to one report published in the journal Journal of the American Medical Association, vitamin B17 as amygdalin administered intravenously at rates up to 4.5 g per day has not produced clinical or laboratory evidence of toxic reactions. Other studies show similar results and only report cases of toxicity at very high doses causing cyanide poisoning.

Vitamin B17 or laetrile extract can be given orally in tablet form, or it can be given by injection (intravenously or intramuscularly). Most often, this substance is administered intravenously for a short period of time, followed by lower doses of oral tablets for maintenance therapy.

In the medical community, vitamin B17 injections are commonly used to help prevent or treat cancer, although they are extremely expensive, costing thousands of dollars for just a few months of treatment. In some cases, vitamin B17 injections are given to patients already undergoing chemotherapy because they help relieve chemotherapy-related symptoms and prevent cancer from recurring.

Since the FDA has made purchasing B17 laetrile vitamin supplements illegal and nearly impossible, many people are choosing to purchase extracts or tablets online. A popular way to consume vitamin B17 is by eating apricot kernels. Inside an apricot pit, or other fruit seeds such as peach pits or apple seeds, is a kernel. It is in the kernels of the seeds that a large amount of vitamin B17 is contained.

Some people choose to buy large quantities of apricot kernels online or purchase tablets and liquid supplements derived from apricot kernels. They use apricot kernels against cancer. Experts generally recommend eating 25-40 kernels per day for disease prevention, or about 16 kernels for maintenance.

Side effects and interactions

Many cases show that vitamin B17 is generally well tolerated and does not cause toxicity or harm, but some people experience side effects associated with cyanide poisoning. Cyanide is a neurotoxin that causes a number of side effects, including:

  • nausea and vomiting;
  • headache;
  • dizziness;
  • skin discoloration as a result of oxygen-deprived hemoglobin in the blood;
  • liver damage;
  • abnormally low blood pressure;
  • confusion;
  • and even death.

Oral vitamin B17 is considered more dangerous than injected laetrile due to cyanide poisoning. These side effects are increased by eating raw almonds or ground fruit kernels, or by eating fruits and vegetables that contain beta-glucosidase enzymes, including celery, peaches, bean sprouts, and carrots.

High doses of vitamin C can also cause harmful side effects when taking vitamin B17. On the other hand, eating foods that contain acid, particularly hydrochloric acid, helps prevent the side effects of vitamin B17. These include citrus fruits such as lemon, orange or grapefruit.

A few serious warnings to be aware of regarding vitamin B17 interactions include the fact that in some cases it can dramatically lower blood pressure as well as lead to blood thinning. Therefore, it should never be used with other blood pressure-lowering or blood-thinning medications. It is also not recommended to take vitamin B17 with probiotics because probiotics can enhance the effects of cyanide and lead to cyanide poisoning in some rare cases.

Let's summarize. So what happens, vitamin B17 against cancer is a myth or reality? There is still no clear answer to this question, since the results of some scientific studies confirm the anticancer activity of this substance, while others do not. In any case, if you are recommended to use vitamin B17 in the treatment of cancer, it should be used exclusively in complex therapy and only under the supervision of an experienced physician.
