Content

Many serious ailments are treated with medicinal herbs. This category includes hemlock - the healing properties and contraindications of this plant were known even by the ancient Greek healer Hippocrates. The plant is poisonous, but you can harvest it yourself, having studied the safety rules.

Hemlock - where it grows and what it looks like

The spotted or speckled hemlock plant belongs to the biennial herbs of the umbrella family. It grows in Africa, Asia and Europe. In our country, it is found in almost all areas. He chooses well-lit, open places. You can meet him on the edges of forests, roadsides, limestone slopes, fields, vegetable gardens.

Grows up to 1.8 meters. The central stem is thick, covered with red dots, because of these marks the plant got its name. Numerous branches with large leaves and inflorescences depart from the stem. The white flowers resemble umbrellas. At the end of summer, in the second year, fruits are formed, they are sifted out and a new plant cycle begins.

Hemlock belongs to the category of poisonous herbs and has a high danger. Our ancestors prepared terrible poisons from it. At the same time, the useful properties of the plant were discovered. It contains substances:

  • essential oils;
  • flavonoids - quercetin, kaempferol;
  • acylglycerols;
  • fixed oils;
  • organic acids;
  • caffeic acid.

Do not forget about the poisonous components of hemlock - alkaloids. The most dangerous of them is koniin. According to herbalists, it kills cancer cells, acting like chemotherapy. In addition, hemlock contains:

  • methylconiine;
  • conicein;
  • pseudoconhydrin;
  • conhydrin.

Successfully used hemlock in oncology. There are many types of malignant tumors: breast cancer, ovarian cancer, stomach cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer, brain cancer, prostate cancer, adrenal cancer, thyroid cancer. Everyone has their own treatment method. However, when using hemlock for cancer, the dosage must be observed. Otherwise, the beneficial properties will turn against the patient.

Hemlock tincture

From oncological diseases, alcohol tincture of hemlock, which is taken orally, is more effective. You can buy or insist on your own. The collection of plants begins in May and continues until August. For cooking, leaves, inflorescences, seeds, fruits, both fresh and dried, are used. It is necessary to collect them with rubber gloves, since the hemlock juice causes skin rashes.

Raw materials are placed loosely in the container, filled with vodka. The grass is completely covered with liquid so that volatile substances do not evaporate. You should put the bottle in a dark place, cover with a lid and leave for 2-4 weeks. This period is enough for the alkaloids to pass into vodka. Ready tincture must be drained. Store in a cool place out of the reach of children.

Hemlock oil - application

If you combine internal, external reception and a special diet, then recovery will come earlier. The use of hemlock oil relieves swelling, relieves pain. It is well absorbed by the skin and has fewer side effects. The substance is applied to cotton swabs, placed vaginally or rectally. With prostatitis, it is recommended to rub oil into the perineum.

To make hemlock oil at home, you need:

  1. Collect seeds and flowers in a container, filling 2/3.
  2. Fill to the neck with any vegetable oil, preferably olive or linseed.
  3. Instead of a lid, close with a plastic bag, which is fixed with an elastic band.
  4. Leave in a dark place for 2 weeks, strain before use.

Hemlock treatment

All methods of treatment with hemlock are divided into intensive and gentle. The first group includes methods when, according to the instructions, several drops are taken at once, with an increase in dosage during the day. These techniques cannot be carried out independently, it is necessary that one of the relatives is always close to the patient in order to provide timely assistance in case of an overdose.

Gentle methods allow the body to get used to the poison, they do not bring quick results, but are not so dangerous. Which of the methods to choose, how to take hemlock correctly, can be suggested by a doctor who practices the use of folk remedies for cancer. It is not recommended to self-medicate, relying only on reviews on the Internet.

Hemlock treatment according to the Tishchenko method

Start taking the tincture according to the plan: one drop per 100 ml of water per day. You should add 1 drop daily until their number reaches 40. Then the reception continues, but the number of drops decreases every day from 40 to 1. An important rule: increasing the number of drops, you need to add water - 50 ml per 10 drops, 40 drops 300 ml of liquid is required.

The technique of such use of hemlock was popularly called "royal" due to its high efficiency. Its main advantage is that the dosage increases gradually and the body has time to get used to, adapt to the poison. Treatment of cancer with a hemlock according to the Tishchenko method is used not only in traditional medicine, doctors with many years of experience confirm the effectiveness of this method.

Hemlock tincture use in gynecology

The medicinal properties of the plant are also used for women's health. The use of hemlock tincture in gynecology helps to treat:

  • myoma;
  • ovarian cyst;
  • endometriosis;
  • uterine cancer;
  • mastopathy;
  • polyps in the uterine cavity and cervix.

External methods have proven themselves well in the treatment of neoplasms in women. These include douching and tampons. To avoid side effects, use diluted oil and hemlock tincture. To do this, the oil is diluted with vegetable, and the tincture with water. If the description of the method says to make tampons 3-4 times a day, at first 2 times is enough.

Hemlock - side effects

With any method of treatment, the dose should not exceed 90 drops, after this amount an overdose is inevitable. The following side effects of hemlock are known:

  • blurred vision;
  • headache;
  • burning in the throat;
  • chills;
  • diarrhea;
  • salivation;
  • dizziness;
  • lethargy;
  • vomit;
  • nausea.

Then comes the ascending paralysis, which begins with numbness of the limbs and goes up to the head. If any of the symptoms appear, it is necessary to immediately stop treatment and take the patient to the doctor, indicating the cause of the poisoning. Without urgent medical care, a fatal outcome is likely; it is not for nothing that hemlock grass is included in the list of poisonous ones.

Hemlock contraindications

Before starting treatment, a medical consultation is required. It helps to identify other diseases in which the use of the plant is prohibited. Hemlock contraindications:

  • kidney failure;
  • depletion of the body;
  • arterial hypertension;
  • liver disease;
  • epilepsy.

After surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, treatment begins only after 2 weeks. It is forbidden to drink the tincture of the plant during pregnancy - this leads to fetal malformations or miscarriage. Be sure to stop smoking and drinking alcohol. The poison coniin leads to the fact that, in combination with nicotine and ethanol, hemlock poisoning occurs.

Hemlock for cancer is recommended as an adjunct to basic medical treatment, especially for brain cancer, and also if cancer of the stomach, breast or prostate is diagnosed. Today, phytotherapy is becoming more and more popular. This is due to the fact that herbs harm the body less, because they do not contain any chemicals. In certain cases, herbal medicine can even become a very effective way of treatment, for example, in the event of cancer.

Although this herb has medicinal properties, hemlock (omeg) is a poisonous plant, and has some contraindications for use, so before choosing this remedy for cancer, you should definitely consult your doctor. Omega can be used not only in cancer therapy, but also in palliative care. It allows patients to alleviate their condition and reduce severe clinical manifestations.

Scientific studies of the plant prove that due to the potent substances contained in it, it can be taken in such diseases:

  • mental disorders;
  • oncological processes;
  • senility;
  • sclerosis;
  • prostatitis;
  • infertility.

The plant is a strong immune stimulant that strengthens cellular immunity and enhances the body's own defense against cancer cells. One of the most important benefits of hemlock, in the treatment of cancer, is the combination of strengthening immunity with antitumor properties.

The herb and hemlock seeds contain the following substances:

  • alkaloids;
  • coumarins;
  • vitamins A and C;
  • flavonoids;
  • flavone glycosides;
  • caffeic acid;
  • essential oils.

Patients with the development of oncology at stage 4 simply need to alleviate the pain syndrome, and the use of Omega for this is very effective. Also, the hemlock herb has a very strong sedative effect, due to which it helps to remove cramps and spasms in patients with cancer.

The healing properties of hemlock are as follows:
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • immunomodulatory;
  • antitumor;
  • antipyretic;
  • wound healing;
  • painkiller;
  • choleretic and diuretic.

Due to this unique composition, many pharmaceutical companies use it to create new drugs used in various types of cancer and other diseases.

Indications for use

In folk medicine, this herb is considered a panacea not only for cancer, but also for many other diseases.

Hemlock can be used for home treatment for:

  • pain syndrome, regardless of the cause and location;
  • spasms and convulsions;
  • impaired function of urination;
  • diseases of the female urinary organs;
  • anemia;
  • inflammation of the lymph nodes.

Hemlock in oncology

In patients in the process of treating cancer with hemlock, a slowdown in the growth of neoplasms was observed, as well as relief of the condition and improvement in the quality of life. It is also not uncommon for cancer therapy with hemlock herb to lead to a complete cure for patients. Hemlock in oncology at the last stage of cancer development helps patients cope with clinical manifestations.

The use of this plant in the treatment of cancer is due to the action of its components:
  • Koniin - at a small dosage, poisoning with koniin provokes a reaction of the immune system and the production of antibodies, which, in the process of fighting this component, also fight cancer cells. The greatest efficiency is observed in tumors spreading metastases.
  • Coumarins - inhibit the growth of cells of formations, while a similar effect is exclusively on the cells of neoplasms, without harming healthy tissues. Coumarins also enhance the effectiveness of treatment through chemotherapy.
  • Alkaloids, flavonoids and caffeic acid actively cope with inflammation, which is very useful for the treatment of precancerous conditions and metastatic tumors.

The use of herbs for cancer helps to cope with pain and spasms very well, which is important for patients with this diagnosis. Hemlock-based products help the body destroy cancer cells, and if the disease is detected in the early stages of development, hemlock significantly increases the chances of a successful recovery.

Procurement and collection

In the process of cancer treatment, almost all parts of the hemlock herb are used, in particular the leaves, flowers, fresh and dried seeds. Finding this plant will not cause much trouble, as hemlock grows almost everywhere. It is recommended to collect the plant during its flowering period, which falls on the summer months. Seeds should be collected in late summer and early autumn.

When collecting a flower of this plant, you need to take safety rules seriously:
  1. Protect your hands with rubber gloves, and do not touch the plant with bare skin;
  2. Put on a protective mask to protect yourself from its fumes;
  3. Even if gloves were used, still wash your hands after collecting the herb.

Hemlock can be either cut with a knife or harvested with your hands, but this must be done very carefully. If the herb is collected for alcohol infusion, you can immediately take a jar of vodka or alcohol with you. When collecting parts of the plant for further drying, it must be laid out on some fabric in a thin layer, while not leaving it indoors.

It is also necessary to carry out drying in a darkened ventilated room. After the hemlock dries, it must be placed in an airtight package, then left in a dark place out of the reach of children. The shelf life of dried hemlock is about two years.

In the treatment of cancerous tumors, many healers recommend using an alcoholic tincture of the plant, but it can also be used as an ointment, extract or water infusion. At the same time, traditional medicine is skeptical about such methods, and recommends their use purely as a supplement, while strictly following the recommendations of specialists.

Recipes and use in oncology

Before you start using Omega for the treatment of cancer, be sure to consult with a herbalist. The specialist will tell you in detail how to prepare the infusion, or where to buy it ready-made, as well as in what doses to take it. There are different variations of hemlock cancer treatment, but the most common way is to use a tincture of this herb.

To increase the effectiveness of cancer therapy, you need to cleanse the body with enemas and diets.

  • fruits and vegetables;
  • fish;
  • lean meats;
  • bran bread;
  • milk;
  • cereals.

Too fatty, spicy and salty foods, as well as canned and smoked foods should be excluded from the diet. Drinking alcohol and smoking during cancer treatment is also prohibited. Hemlock against cancer is a powerful remedy on its own, but when combined with other medicinal herbs that remove toxins from the body and strengthen the immune system, the result will be even better. Before starting cancer therapy, the oncologist must tell you how to take hemlock and how long the course will last.

It is worth noting the most important point that the components of the hemlock have a destructive effect on cancer cells, and the products of this destruction must be removed from the body. Therefore, during the treatment, you should drink cleansing herbal teas, which will also reduce the effect of the plant's poison on the liver.

Ointment

The use of the ointment is recommended for skin cancer, for example, the development of melanoma or basalioma, as well as if cancer of the lymph nodes and tumors in the breast area are diagnosed. For more effective treatment of cancer with hemlock, the ointment must be combined with internal methods of infusion of this herb. For use, you just need to apply a thin layer of healing ointment to the area where the cancerous tumor is located. The procedure must be carried out for a month twice a day.

Water tincture

Making hemlock tincture is not a difficult process. You need to put one teaspoon of dry grass in a large container and pour hot water, then let it brew for six hours. The amount of water should be 250 ml. There are different ways to take hemlock. But usually it is taken according to the increasing system. First, one drop is taken in the morning on an empty stomach, and one more drop is added every day, bringing it to a certain norm, depending on the method chosen. After that, a decrease is carried out one drop per day.

Alcohol tincture

To prepare an alcohol tincture, the leaves and flowers of the plant are needed. Half and loosely fill a liter jar with fresh raw materials, then pour diluted 50% alcohol. It is recommended to infuse the mixture for 21 days, but if necessary, the reception can be started after the third. The dosage of alcohol tincture should be clarified in advance with a specialist.
You can also prepare an effective cancer tincture from hemlock seeds in alcohol. To do this, you need to take fresh seeds, place them in a container and pour alcohol. It takes about two weeks to insist.

Danikov method

This regimen also begins with taking 1 drop, after which the dosage of 1 drop is increased to 35 drops of hemlock tincture. Treatment of cancer in this way involves taking a tincture of hemlock herb 15 drops every four hours. If signs of intoxication appear, you need to skip one day.

Tishchenko method

The method of treating hemlock according to the Tishchenko method (“Royal Method”) is the simplest and most popular for fighting cancer. Hemlock tincture is taken only once a day before breakfast. At first, only 1 drop is taken, after which the dosage is increased by 1 drop daily until it reaches the limit of 40 drops. Then the reverse process begins, removing 1 drop every day.
For severely weakened patients diagnosed with cancer, there is the possibility of using a modified Tishchenko method. Cancer treatment in this case is also carried out incrementally from 1 drop, but only brought up to 18 drops, after which this dose is kept for the remaining course of therapy.

Nikiforov's method

In this case, the hemlock is taken three times a day every six hours. Reception begins with 5 drops, after which the dosage is also increased by one drop per day. You need to take it three times a day until the number of drops reaches 30, and then direct the process to reduce by 1 drop.

Contraindications

In addition to the claimed healing properties, the use of hemlock in the treatment of cancer has some contraindications. First of all, this is an individual intolerance to one or more components of the plant. Such cases are not common, but in order to prevent the occurrence of an allergy to hemlock grass, it is imperative to start with a small dose.

Other contraindications include:

  • children and old age;
  • period of pregnancy;
  • liver disease;
  • recent surgeries.

The main task of the liver is to remove harmful metabolic products from the body, and in the event of cirrhosis or other pathologies of this organ, this function will be impaired. Therefore, drinking hemlock for any pathologies of the liver should not be, as it contains toxic substances.

Patients with breast cancer who have undergone surgery to remove a malignant tumor should start using hemlock tincture no earlier than two months after surgery. At the stage of rehabilitation, the healing properties of the hemlock will be aimed at preventing the recurrence of cancer.

Hemlock is a very effective remedy for the treatment of cancerous tumors, but, unfortunately, in a third of cases it does not have the desired result. The exact cause of this phenomenon has not been established, but in some patients the alkaloid components do not affect malignant cells. Patients in this situation have no other option than to resort to the choice of other plants with similar properties, such as celandine or aconite.

Hemlock is a poisonous plant that grows almost everywhere. It has many other names: gorigol, dog parsley, hollow, poisonous stem, omeg.

In folk medicine, hemlock tincture has long been used to treat malignant tumors. And now, despite the availability of modern anticancer drugs, many cancer patients resort to this remedy. Due to its high toxicity, the use of hemlock tincture in official medicine is prohibited. "Healers" give false hope for recovery to hopeless people, talking about the miraculous properties of hemlock tincture, while silent about how many this method has killed.

The toxicity of hemlock is associated with a high content of the alkaloid coniine, which is a poison with a neurotoxic effect.

Koniin is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract into the bloodstream, spreads throughout the body and causes paralysis of motor and sensory nerve endings, as well as damage to the central nervous system, which is manifested first by its excessive excitation, and then by its sharp depression.

In response to the action of the poison, the immune system is also activated - some of the anti-cancer effect of hemlock is associated primarily with the immune response. In addition, the tissues of malignant tumors have an increased metabolism, so they accumulate poison in themselves faster and in greater concentration than healthy tissues. This is the basis of the mechanism of action of official chemotherapy drugs, and hemlock poison too.

The elimination of pain when taking hemlock is associated with the ability of koniin to block the transmission of a nerve impulse - that is, not the cause of pain is eliminated, but only the ability to perceive it.

The systematic "boosting" of the immune system with hemlock tincture quickly leads to its depletion, as a result of which the body's defenses are weakened. This causes an increase in the growth of a cancerous tumor and exacerbation of other diseases.

Hemlock tincture is very poisonous. In a weakened patient, even a few drops of it can cause death. It has a pronounced toxic effect not only on the nervous system, but also on the liver, kidneys, and the cardiovascular system.

Symptoms

For hemlock poisoning are characteristic:

  • nausea;
  • vomit;
  • abdominal pain, often spastic in nature;
  • diarrhea;
  • hypersalivation;
  • itching of the oral mucosa;
  • paresthesia;
  • headache;
  • dizziness;
  • pupil dilation;
  • hearing and vision impairment;
  • pale skin;
  • tachycardic arrhythmia;
  • expiratory dyspnea;
  • muscle twitches.

With minor poisoning, symptoms of damage to the digestive system come to the fore. They usually occur within 1-2 hours after taking the hemlock tincture. In people with hypersensitivity to poison, symptoms appear much earlier, already after 15-30 minutes.

For severe intoxication, the clinical picture of ascending paralysis is characteristic. First, patients develop and increase weakness in the lower extremities, gradually turning into paralysis. Then higher muscle groups, including respiratory ones, are drawn into the pathological process. The patient loses the ability to swallow. Tachycardia is replaced by bradycardia. Breathing becomes shallow. Against the background of an increase in cardiovascular and respiratory failure, a fatal outcome can occur.

First aid for hemlock poisoning

If signs of hemlock poisoning appear, it is necessary to immediately begin to provide first aid.

To prevent further absorption of poison from the stomach, it should be washed. The patient is given to drink about half a liter of water with the addition of olive or sunflower oil, and then they induce vomiting, irritating the area around the root of the tongue. This procedure is strictly contraindicated for small children and persons who are in an unconscious state!

After that, the patient should take activated charcoal at the rate of 3-4 tablets for every 10 kg of body weight. Instead of activated carbon, you can use Filtrum STI, Smecta, Polysorb.

The victim should be put to bed and well covered with a blanket. Windows should be opened to allow fresh air in and make breathing easier.

Be sure to drink as much tannin-rich liquid as possible (decoction of oak bark, coffee, strong tea).

When is medical assistance required?

Hemlock poisoning, regardless of its severity, is the basis for urgent medical attention.

Treatment of victims is carried out in the departments of toxicology. Therapy for hemlock poisoning is symptomatic, as there is no antidote for coniine.

Victims are prescribed 5% hydrochloric acid inside, give a saline laxative. To accelerate the excretion of poison, forced diuresis is shown. With an increase in respiratory failure, respiratory analeptics are used, and if they are ineffective, the issue of transferring the patient to artificial ventilation of the lungs is decided. The development of a seizure requires anticonvulsant therapy (Sibazon, Magnesium sulfate).

To restore the heart rhythm, antiarrhythmic drugs, such as Procainamide, are administered intravenously.

Possible consequences

Mild hemlock poisoning with timely treatment usually ends happily.

Hemlock poisoning is very dangerous for pregnant women. In them, it can cause the development of fetal pathologies and cause spontaneous miscarriage.

In children, hemlock poisoning is especially difficult, which is associated with the increased sensitivity of the child's body to toxic substances.

Pneumonia, toxic hepatitis and nephritis can become a complication of hemlock poisoning.

Severe hemlock poisoning, even with timely treatment, often ends in death due to ascending paralysis, respiratory and cardiovascular failure.

Prevention

To prevent hemlock poisoning, sanitary and educational work should be carried out with the population, especially among people suffering from cancer and their relatives. Currently, doctors have a huge arsenal of modern chemotherapy drugs that are much more effective and safe to use than hemlock.

Hemlock spotted is a valuable medicinal plant. Hemlock is a potent immunostimulant that activates the body's defenses. It has a strong antitumor, also analgesic, anticonvulsant, sedative, anti-inflammatory effect.

In folk medicine, hemlock is used to treat cancer. A positive effect of hemlock has been established in a number of tumors. Such as cancer of the breast, prostate, stomach, liver, lungs, uterus and others. Hemlock is also successfully used for the following benign tumors: endometriosis, polyps of the body and cervix, mastopathy, prostate adenoma, polyps of the bladder, stomach, intestines, nasopharynx, larynx and others.

Often hemlock is used in conjunction with other antitumor drugs - elderberry syrup, anticancer preparations. Instead of hemlock, you can use birch chaga or todikamp, but in no case at the same time.

Cancer treatment methods with hemlock tincture according to V.V. Tishchenko

VV Tishchenko offers 4 main methods of taking hemlock tincture inside.

Method #1. The scheme of taking hemlock tincture for very debilitated patients and children:

1 drop - - - three days
1 to - 1 to - three days
1 to 1 to 1 to - three days
1 to 1 to 1 to 1 to three days
2 to 1 to 1 to 1 to three days
2 to 1 to 2 to 1 to three days
2 to 2 to 2 to 1 to three days
2 to 2 to 2 to 2 to recovery

Method #2. The scheme of taking hemlock tincture for debilitated patients:

8-00 12-00 16-00 20-00 (reception time)
1 drop - 1 to - three days
1 to 1 to 1 to 1 to three days
1 to 2 to 1 to 2 to three days
1 to 2 to 2 to 2 to a week
2 to 2 to 3 to 2 to a week
3 to 3 to 3 to 3 to a week
4 to 3 to 4 to 3 to a week
4 to 4 to 4 to 4 to recovery

Method No. 3. For non-debilitated patients and those who have undergone chemotherapy and radiation. For non-debilitated patients and those who have undergone chemotherapy and radiation, the most practical working method of taking hemlock in increments of up to 15 drops is recommended. After the dose is increased to 15 drops, all subsequent days until complete recovery (destruction of the tumor), it is necessary to adhere to this dosage. This technique gives the highest percentage of recovery, since 15 drops is a well-functioning sparing dose, at which the protective function of healthy cells is not inhibited. By applying this dosage, the tumor is successfully suppressed without causing harm to our body. And this is the most optimal load on the body.

Method No. 4. Scheme for taking hemlock tincture for patients with a very high immune potential. The scheme of taking hemlock for patients with very high immune potential, or the “Royal Method”: take the tincture 1 time per day an hour before meals on an empty stomach from 1 drop to 40, increasing daily by 1 drop, then, gradually decreasing, return to 1 drop. Drip the tincture into water (from 100 to 200 ml, increasing by 50 ml every 13 drops). At the first signs of poisoning (nausea, weakness in the legs, and so on), immediately begin to reduce to 1 drop.

Overdoses are unacceptable as inflammatory processes begin, the condition worsens sharply.
In this case, stop taking the hemlock and take a weak solution of potassium permanganate in milk for 3 days, and then begin to decrease to 1 drop.

Conduct 2-3 such courses in a row. If a positive result is achieved, 1-2 cycles of treatment should be repeated after 6-8 months.

40 drops of tincture is the maximum allowable dose for the human body, at which the activity of a cancer cell is suppressed and the activity of healthy cells is inhibited to some extent, which forces the body to concentrate all its forces to fight this plant poison. After decreasing the dosages in descending order, the concentrated defenses of the body begin to actively suppress cancer cells.

However, this technique is not safe, since not every organism is able to endure this load. The risk zone starts from 25 drops and above. Before starting treatment, it is recommended to clean the liver.

On the days of taking hemlock tincture, you can take a decoction of oregano (it restores the blood formula), a decoction of pine and spruce needles and (restores the vascular system, removes poisons and radionuclides), antitumor herbal preparations.

If a cancer patient is treated with other herbs and remedies, it is recommended to drink hemlock tincture simply as an anesthetic, 2 drops per tablespoon of water 5 times a day before meals. During severe attacks of pain, 10 drops of hemlock with water are allowed (up to 2 times). The same dosages are prescribed for severe pain of a different, non-tumor origin: for renal, hepatic, gastric, intestinal colic, severe pain during, paroxysmal pain in the rectum. In many hemlocks, it relieves ischemic attacks of pain in the heart.

With cancer, you can not eat meat, sausages, broths, spicy, salty, fried, sweet, fatty. But cereals on the water, fresh juices (especially carrot and beetroot) are useful. When treating, it must be borne in mind that hemlock is a deadly poisonous plant and must be handled with great care! Avoid overdose!

Hemlock spotted or Coniummaculatum is a plant valuable for medicine, which is a prominent representative of a group of poisonous herbs. It is used in the treatment of oncological malignant diseases (in the form of decoctions - earlier, today - as part of pharmacological preparations).

In ancient Greece, it was hemlock poison that was used to execute the condemned to death. This fact is due to the property of this plant to kill a living organism without causing him intense pain.

Among the people, spotted hemlock is called differently: gorigol, buglav, dog angelica, stinker, hollow, omeg, poisonous stem, dog parsley, tar.

Hemlock is not whimsical, and therefore you can meet it almost everywhere - in the forest zone, on roadsides, wastelands and landfills, parks, vegetable gardens, and even near houses.

For intoxication of the body, it is enough to ingest a small part of the hemlock. It is also life-threatening to inhale the aroma of this herb for a long time and contact it with the skin.

In people with weakened immune systems, 100 ml of hemlock decoction is enough to cause a severe form of poisoning, in which a fatal outcome is not ruled out.

Long-term use of drugs based on this plant can also cause intoxication of the body.

Chemical composition

A large amount of poisonous alkaloids are contained in the seeds of this plant. The most dangerous of them are conhydrin, pseudoconhydrin, methylconiin, coniin. Also, hemlock seeds have a high content of such useful substances as tannins, fatty oils, vitamin C, beta-carotene, biologically active substances and other micro and macro elements.

From the leaves of the plant, in addition to alkaloid poisons, you can get caffeic acid and hemlock essential oil.

And the flowers contain kaempferol and quercetin.

Ways of intoxication

Hemlock poisoning can occur in several ways.

  1. Through the respiratory tract, inhaling the aroma of this plant is life-threatening.
  2. Through contact of the plant with human skin (when collecting raw materials without following the proper rules - gloves, respirator, goggles).
  3. Internal use. This method of hemlock poisoning refers mainly to the first year of the plant's life. During this period, it is easy to confuse it with ordinary parsley or carrots. And the hemlock stalk that has just appeared is very similar to dill shoots.

The main poisonous substance of hemlock is coniin. This alkaloid is extremely quickly absorbed into the intestines and blood, easily penetrates the skin, mucous membranes of the oral cavity.

In this case, the following clinical picture develops:

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
  • Painful syndrome of high intensity in the abdomen;
  • Increased salivation;
  • Itching in the mouth;
  • Numbness of the skin;
  • Headache and dizziness;
  • Hearing disorders;
  • visual disturbances;
  • Pupil dilation;
  • Paleness of the skin;
  • Shortness of breath, difficult exhalation;
  • Tachycardia;
  • Arrhythmia;
  • Twitching intermittent but not controlled in individual muscles.

If there is a slight poisoning, then the development of symptoms will be accompanied by dysfunctions of the gastrointestinal tract and disturbances in the liver. These manifestations will already be approximately 1.5-2 hours after the poison enters the body.

If a person has a history of high sensitivity to hemlock poisons, the clinical picture will begin to develop within 15-20 minutes after contact with the plant.

In a severe form of hemlock poisoning, all symptoms will develop into paralysis. The first stage will be characterized by intense weakness in the limbs, the second - directly paralysis of the limbs.

The third stage is the poisoning of the respiratory tract and the cardiovascular system. Intense tachycardia begins, breathing becomes difficult, heart and lung failure develops, which leads to mortality.

When symptoms of hemlock poisoning begin to appear, a person immediately needs first aid. It consists in washing the stomach in order to stop the process of absorption of toxic substances into the blood.

The patient should be allowed to drink at least 1.5 liters of pure water with olive or sunflower oil dissolved in it (2-3 tablespoons). Then you need to induce vomiting by pressing on the base of the tongue. But this procedure is only suitable for adults who are conscious.

Children and unconscious patients have other procedures and are best done under medical supervision.

After washing the intestines and stomach, it is necessary to give the person sorbents to drink -,.

It is necessary to provide the victim with complete rest, putting him to bed, covering him with a warm blanket to facilitate breathing - open all windows, allowing fresh air to freely enter the room.

In addition, the first aid for hemlock poisoning includes drinking plenty of liquids with a high content of tannins - strong tea, coffee, decoction of oak bark.

Health care

Medical care should be provided as soon as possible after the onset of the development of the clinical picture. It is carried out in a stationary mode and is symptomatic, since there is no specific antidote for hemlock poisoning.

As a rule, the patient's body is cleansed with a saline solution. In order to free the body of poisons as quickly as possible, forced diuresis is prescribed.

In case of intensive development of respiratory failure, therapy with respiratory analeptics is carried out. And if this is not enough, then artificial lung ventilation is prescribed.

In the case of seizures, anticonvulsant therapy is carried out with the help of specialized drugs (magnesium sulfate, sibazon).

To restore the heart rhythm and eliminate arrhythmia, drugs with antiarrhythmic effects (procainamide, for example) are administered intravenously.

Possible consequences

As a rule, when a person who has been injured by hemlock poisoning is provided with timely medical care, the prognosis is positive.

This condition is especially dangerous during pregnancy. Poisoning with hemlock poisons can cause pathologies in the development of the fetus, cause miscarriage.

After severe poisoning, a person may develop complications such as nephritis, toxic hepatitis, or pneumonia.

A lethal outcome is also not excluded in severe poisoning. It occurs against the background of paralysis and the development of heart and lung failure.

Prevention of poisoning

To prevent hemlock poisoning, state-wide measures are necessary:

  1. Conducting sanitary-explanatory conversations with the population.
  2. Conducting activities with children that tell about the rules of their behavior in nature. Children should clearly understand that no plants can be categorically eaten without the permission of adults.
  3. Explanatory conversations with parents about the inadmissibility of leaving children unattended in nature.
